Open day at the Church Hall on a Thursday morning.
Our weekly openings (affectionately known as Thursday Nonsense) continue. While we don’t have great numbers of visitors on a regular basis, those who do come calling enjoy the chat, the tea, coffee, biscuits and more often than not the cake. New faces are always welcome. So if you are a loose end on a Thursday from 10am until 1pm. do pop in and say hello. It’s often a hive of activity with the knitting needles and crochet hooks doing what they do best. Many a garment started on a Thursday ends up on our stall for sale. We are grateful to all those who buy these items, it ensures a steady income for Church funds.
Our Church cookery book is taking shape, and we hope to have it in print by the end of October. Just in time for the Christmas Market. Priced at £10 you can pre-
Any visitors who come calling can still take a short history tour around the Church and learn a little bit about local history too.
We had several visitors to our latest open day, three on holiday, and one lady flying up from England to visit with us for a specific purpose in mind! The lady has been researching her family tree and with the help of the team at the Church and a few others we were able to fill in gaps in her knowledge. Not only that, we have been able to put her in touch with a living relative. Very rewarding! There has been an increase again in the number of enquiries coming from abroad looking for information on past family members, it’s a really great feeling when we can assist.
Meanwhile our ladies and friends have been busy knitting hats which we hope will keep the heads of the children of Kingussie warm going to school in the dark winter’s mornings and help keep them safe at the same time too! How so? We’ve used reflective wool, all the way from Canada! Didn’t know you could get such a thing!
Glad to report sales of our marmalades and jams continue. Recent batch off to the central belt.
Cookery book sales continuing.
Rag bag scheme certainly makes clearing out your wardrobe a dawdle. Put it in bags bring to the Church Hall, (we even provide the empty bags) it’s sent away. Easy peasy.
Grateful thanks are due to all who support our fundraising venturesome any way.
It really does make a difference.
